HOUSTON, March 1, 2016Sentai Filmworks is proud to announce the home video release of Wake Up, Girls! The Movie on June 7, 2016.

It is a time of fierce competition between many rival pop idol groups. This is the story of "Wake Up, Girls!" a group made up of seven young girls who have braved the raging storm.

Green Leaves Entertainment is a small production agency located in Sendai, Tohoku, representing former magicians, pinup idols, and fortune tellers. With its last active performer having quit, it finds itself in a dangerous situation as its talent base drops to zero -- so company president Junko Tange comes up with the idea to produce an idol unit.  While manager Kohei Matsuda has his concerns about the overbearing president, he heads to the city streets in search of diamonds in the rough. In doing so, Matsuda will bring about an inevitable encounter with a certain young girl...

The film was directed by Yutaka Yamamoto with a script by Toko Machida. Character design was helmed by Sunao Chikaoka, with Satoru Kosaki and MONACA in charge of music composition. Animation production was handled by Tatsunoko Production (Mach GoGoGo, The Adventures of Hutch the Honeybee, Gatchaman) and Ordet (The Miyawaka Family's Hunger, Senyu, BLACK★ROCKSHOOTER).

Sentai Filmworks licensed both Wake Up, Girls! The Movie and the Wake Up, Girls! TV Series in December 2015, and the movie is available for preorder now.
